This past Monday night another ten people accepted Christ at our food pantry and clothing closet in Farrington Mission. Just think about that number — if it happened every week for a year, that would be 520 salvations…ten in one night is huge! Monday night last week seven people were saved. Almost every Monday night, Christ is saving people at Farrington! And the stunning aspect is that this is happening in an environment where nobody is required to listen to the gospel in order to get physical help.
Additionally, this past Monday night over 120 families came to the food pantry and clothing closet, where immigration legal advice is also available. It fills me with so much joy to know our church family helped 120 needy families this past Monday.
During the last two weeks, at least one lady accepted Christ at the women’s health center. Abortion minded mothers and fathers chose to keep their babies. Mothers attended classes and appointments where they received both practical life skills and spiritual mentoring.
Meanwhile, we continue to reach out to men in the Farrington Mission area through the basketball ministry on Thursday nights.
And this is just a snapshot of one week in the ministry life of Farrington Mission in Houston’s 5th Ward, a ministry that does this week after week, year round.
It’s easy to take for granted the miracle of Farrington Mission. What a gift and calling that our Lord would give NEHBC our own physical needs mission in such a strategic location of Houston. What a movement of the Holy Spirit that the mission is volunteer led and staffed and operates with such scope and scale. NEHBCers never cease to amaze me.
Father, we praise you for what is happening at Farrington Mission. Holy Spirit, thank You for the movement You are leading; would You continue to exalt our Lord Jesus from Your property in Houston’s 5th Ward.
