I have a deep conviction that the Holy Spirit is exhorting NEHBC to greater intentionality in evangelism and missions. The numerical growth and financial blessings on our church is having the side effect of an evangelism and missions sedative. Please join me in praying for the Holy Spirit to break us, wake us up, and retune our hearts to the main thing: making disciples.
Here are some evangelism and missions opportunities before us during the month of May:
The Jericho Project:
Saturday, May 14, 8:30-11:30am.
This is our collective effort to systematically take the gospel to the front door of every single household in our immediate vicinity one time. We have a target of 38,000 households; we’ve been to 7,000. Learn more here: http://www.nehbc.com/jerichoproject
Personal Evangelism Training:
Sunday, May 15, 5-7pm.
Our pastors offer quarterly evangelism training every quarter. I am personally leading the training on May 15. You can show up knowing nothing and when we are done, you will have memorized and practiced a 2-3 minute gospel presentation you can share with unbelievers in your circle of influence. Find out more here: http://www.nehbc.com/evangelism-workshop
We are participating in both a food center and house mud-outs for victims of Houston’s recent major storm. Through both efforts, doors will open for the gospel to be shared. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Through meeting physical needs via our mission in Houston’s Fifth Ward, we share the gospel with unbelievers every week. You can volunteer in the food pantry or clothing closet on Monday nights or to assist the men’s basketball ministry on Thursday nights. You can also volunteer to sort inventory on Monday mornings or to begin training to serve in the pregnancy center. Find out more: http://nehbc.com/farringtonmission-about
Host or serve at one of our summer
Backyard Bible Clubs:
One week in June, 2-3 hour “clubs” are hosted by NEHBC members throughout the neighborhoods of our area in an effort to share the gospel with children. Training is taking place in May. Find out more: http://nehbc.com/bbc
We provide a variety of gospel tracts and NEHBC invite cards at the info booth in the lobby for you to hand out to unbelievers. Keep some with you at all times and pray for opportunities to hand them out. Why not go door-to-door on your own street or in your apartment building?
