Concrete started going in this morning. That is always a very exciting step! The concrete will be poured in sections over the next 2-3 weeks. When finished, we will have around 400 new spots. Today’s pour is enough for 100-140 parking spots. So, that gives you some perspective on how much is being poured today.
We will still be riding shuttle buses from AHS for the next few weeks. When poured, the concrete needs a two week curing period before we can begin using it. However, we expect to stop shuttling and start parking in our new parking lot once this first section has cured…depending on how big our Fall influx of attendance is…this past Sunday there were a BUNCH of people here!
At this point, the completion date for the entire project has been pushed back to late October. This is due to two big issues: 1. The cost of the project is now allowing us to build a concrete road out the back of the new parking lot to Will Clayton Parkway in The Bridges subdivision. As you can imagine, Harris County frowns upon organizations adding roads and entrances to county owned roads and land without a permit. So we are going through that process now. 2. There is a longer than expected lag time on the fabrication of the light poles we need in the new parking lot.
The project is on budget. I’m still really thankful it is already fully funded.
This is all due to a movement by the Holy Spirit among us, including you, in which you are giving generously and sacrificially to Paving The Way. Let’s keep going…we are now so close that from here we can see not only “built out,” but also “debt free.” The first major church plant is on the horizon! Glory to God.
